Weekly Study Content and Structure

  1. Weeks 1-2: Foundations of Therapy and Supervision
    • Session 1: Overview of therapeutic roles and ethics
    • Session 2: Introduction to different therapy modalities
    • Activity: Role-playing exercise to practice building rapport with clients
  2. Weeks 3-4: Basic Therapeutic Skills
    • Session 1: Active listening, empathy, and questioning techniques
    • Session 2: Practicing basic skills through role-play and feedback
  3. Weeks 5-6: Case Conceptualization and Assessment
    • Session 1: Understanding case formulation and treatment planning
    • Session 2: Practical exercises on creating treatment plans
  4. Weeks 7-8: Introduction to Therapeutic Interventions
    • Session 1: Overview of CBT, DBT, and other therapeutic approaches
    • Session 2: Role-play scenarios focusing on these interventions
  5. Weeks 9-10: Managing Challenging Situations in Therapy
    • Session 1: Techniques for managing difficult client behaviors
    • Session 2: Crisis intervention strategies and safety planning
  6. Weeks 11-12: Culture and Therapy
    • Session 1: Understanding the impact of culture on therapy (cultural beliefs, family dynamics, societal norms)
    • Session 2: Adapting therapeutic techniques to suit culturally diverse clients
    • Activity: Discussion on personal biases, role-play scenarios with culturally diverse clients to practice adapted techniques
  7. Weeks 13-14: Dedicated Practice Week
    • Session 1: Full session dedicated to role-playing different scenarios; participants take turns as both therapist and client
    • Session 2: Continued practice with immediate feedback from peers and supervisor, focusing on refining techniques and approaches
  8. Weeks 15-16: Self-Care, Professional Growth, and Integration
    • Session 1: Identifying signs of burnout and self-care practices
    • Session 2: Reflective practice, peer feedback, and supervisee-led sessions
    • Final Assessments: Review of progress, integration of key concepts

Additional Features

  • Reference Letters:
    • Over the course of 2 years, participants can receive up to 4 reference letters based on their performance and contributions during the supervision program.
  • Questions and Support:
    • Participants are encouraged to ask questions outside of class, both during and after the supervision sessions.
    • Guidelines for Questions:
      • Frequency: Up to 3 questions per week via email or designated platform.
      • Response Time: Answers to questions will be provided within 48 hours.

Contactless Hours

  • Readings: Weekly readings on therapeutic modalities, cultural competence, ethics, and case studies.
  • Reflection Exercises: Regular reflective journals or essays on learned topics.
  • Research Assignments: Presentations or papers on specific interventions, cultural adaptation, or case studies.
  • Peer Discussions: Online discussion groups or forums to share experiences and insights.

Certification and Evaluation

  • Certificates of Attendance or Reference Letters will be provided upon completion, based on attendance and participation.
  • Evaluation: Continuous feedback from supervisor and peers, final assessments to review progress and integration of skills.
